everything

life is up and down and sometimes you have a good grip on it and sometimes you don't.
I have a lot of homework to do right now, its 9:20 PM on a sunday night, and I'm not sure what to do.

Does anyone have college advice? I'm not sure where I want to go. Will Yale take a 4.3 average GPA? How much does it help if my dad went there/being good at a sport?
Would it be worth going to a school like Yale? I don't even know what I want to be when I'm older
I'm thinking I would rather go to michigan. But I honestly don't know.

Does anyone have any advice regarding colleges or the process of going to/choosing colleges? I'm a junior in high school right now fyi.

Issues like those mentioned above are the ones that try to consume much of my life.

  1. Aww. That... sucks? Sorry, I'm just out of it. Anyway, Picking colleges does sound tough, but at least you have a whole year to decide. It really depends on where you're going field-wise. Ask yourself, Where do you show promise? What do you like to do? How far are you willing to go? The answer will eventually present itself and life will fall into place. Or, you'll just be a humble hobo. It's Win/Win, really.

  3. Okay, so, slightly different direction on the college advice.

Unless you're going into a long-term education plan (doctor, lawyer, PHD), there's a pretty good chance that you'll 1) change degrees half-way through and 2) never end up using it once you graduate.

That being said, a degree gets you an interview - and a more prestigious degree can get you more. Ivy Leagues obviously have cache, but they also have cultural or social implications as well. Have you actually visited the campuses? One thing I did was take tours of a few of the schools I was thinking about, seeing what life was actually like on-campus. Some place like Yale may have a good program, but if you can't stand the average student, you probably shouldn't go.
